AI Page Summarizer ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that summarizes web pages and enables chat-based Q&A using AI APIs. This policy explains how the Extension handles your data.

1. Data We Do NOT Collect

The Extension does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. There is no backend server operated by the developer.

2. API Keys

API keys you enter (Anthropic / OpenAI) are stored solely in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local). They are only sent directly to the respective AI provider (Anthropic or OpenAI) when you trigger a summarization or chat request. They are never sent to any other third party.

3. Page Content

When you click "Summarize" or use the Chat feature, the text content of the current page is extracted and sent to the AI provider you have selected (Anthropic or OpenAI) to generate a response. This transmission is governed by the privacy policy of the respective AI provider:

• OpenAI Privacy Policy

4. Permissions

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

• activeTab / scripting — to read the text content of the current tab for summarization
• storage — to save your API key and provider preference locally in your browser
• sidePanel — to display the UI in Chrome's side panel

No permission is used beyond its stated purpose.

5. Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
